This guide provides solutions for common questions related to activating players, managing licenses, and renewing your Signagelive subscriptions.

How can I troubleshoot issues with my Signagelive screen activation and connectivity?

When activating a new player, success depends on the device being connected to the internet and able to contact Signagelive's servers.

  1. Check for the Activation Code: Power on your player and ensure it's connected to a screen. After its initial boot sequence, it should display a 6-digit activation code:

    • If you see a blue code, Your player successfully connects to Signagelive servers. Please go ahead and follow the activation steps below.

    • If you don't see a code: The player has a connectivity issue. You'll need to troubleshoot its network connection. Check its physical Ethernet cable, Wi-Fi settings, and ensure your network's firewall is not blocking access to Signagelive's servers.

  2. Activate the Player in Signagelive:

    • Log in to the Signagelive platform.

    • Navigate to the Network menu and select Manage.

    • You will see a list of unactivated players showing a code.

    • Find the player you wish to activate, enter the 6-digit code from its screen, and give the player a name.

    • Click Activate to assign an available license to the player. The player will then restart and begin downloading any content you've published to it.

How do I unallocate a license from a screen?

Unallocating a license is done by deactivating the player. This action frees up the license to be used on a different device.

  1. Log in to your Signagelive network.

  2. Go to the Network menu and select Manage.

  3. Find the active player you wish to deactivate from the list.

  4. Click on the player to open its details page.

  5. Click the Deactivate button.

  6. Confirm the deactivation in the pop-up window.

The player will be removed from your active player list, and its license will return to your pool of available licenses. If the physical player is still running, it will eventually revert to showing a new 6-digit activation code.

How can I reactivate a Signagelive player that has been previously connected?

Reactivating a player that was previously deactivated is the same process as activating a brand new player.

  1. Ensure the player hardware is powered on and connected to the internet.

  2. The player will boot up and display its previous 6-digit activation code, as long as it is deactivated from our service.

    1. If the client has been uninstalled, you may see an error if it is already registered with our service. Deactivate the player or contact the Support team for further assistance in this case

  3. Follow the standard activation process mentioned above by entering this new code into the Signagelive platform to add it as a new player. To complete the reactivation, you will need a free, unallocated license.

How can I manage and renew licenses, especially when encountering issues?

Managing your license pool ensures your screens stay active without interruption.

Renewing Licenses

You can follow this guide to apply your new licence to any existing supported licence on your network.

Repurposing and Using Deactivated Licenses

A license is not tied to a specific piece of hardware forever.

  • Repurposing: When you deactivate a player, its license immediately becomes unavailable. You can use this freed-up license to activate a completely different player.

  • Inherited Expiry: The new player will inherit the original expiry date of the license. For example, if you use a license that expires in 3 months to activate a new player, that new player's license will also expire in 3 months.

  • No "Deactivated Licenses": No separate pool of "deactivated licenses." A license is either active on a player or unallocated (available) in your license pool.
