This guide shows you how to deactivate a Signagelive licence. Deactivating a licence is a quick process that frees it up to be used on a different media player.

Why Deactivate a Licence?

You will need to deactivate a licence when:

  • Replacing a faulty or outdated player.

  • Upgrading your hardware to a newer model.

  • Reassigning a licence to a player in a different location.

  • Retiring a player permanently from your network.

Choosing the Right Method

If you want to...

The Best Method is...

Deactivate a specific licence using its code

Method 1: Deactivate via Licence Manager

This is the best method when you know the specific 16-digit licence code.

  1. Log in to your Signagelive network as an Administrator.

  2. Navigate to Settings and then select Licences.

  3. Find and click the 16-digit licence code you wish to deactivate.

  4. Click the Deactivate button.

  5. Click OK to confirm. The licence will now be highlighted in amber, showing it is successfully deactivated.

Method 2: Deactivate via Player Manager

Use this method when you can easily identify the player by its name or location.

  1. Log in to your Signagelive network as an Administrator.

  2. Navigate to Network and then select Manage.

  3. Click on the Player associated with the licence you want to deactivate.

  4. Select the Licence tab.

  5. Click the Deactivate button and confirm.

Method 3: Deactivate by Placing the Player in the Trash

This is the quickest way to both remove a player from your network and deactivate its licence in one step.

  1. Log in to your Signagelive network as an Administrator.

  2. Navigate to Network and then select Manage.

  3. Find the player you wish to remove from your list.

  4. Click the red Trash icon next to the player's details. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Key Considerations & Common Questions πŸ€”

  • What happens on the screen after deactivation?

The player will stop displaying your content and show a "Not Activated" message. This is normal.

  • Can't see the 'Deactivate' or 'Trash' buttons?

These actions require Administrator permissions. If you don't see these options, please contact your network administrator.

  • Deactivated the wrong licence by mistake?

No problem. A deactivated licence can be immediately reactivated on the same or a different player without any penalty.

  • Is the licence ready for a new player?

Yes. The moment a licence is deactivated, it becomes available in your Licence Manager to be used on a new player.
