Requirements before you begin:

  • A supported Brightsign device (listed here)

  • A Brightsign-supported SD card (details here)

  • A note of the serial number/s for your device/s (these are labelled on the device, and appear on the Boot screen as well)

  • HDMI connection to display

  • Wired network connection

  • Available licences on the network

B-Deploy is a direct integration with the BrightSign provisioning system, which allows you to configure your BrightSign device (or devices) remotely and easily. This article will walk you through the two methods of configuring your Players with B-Deploy.

Please Note

We recommend that you update your Brightsign device to the appropriate firmware before configuring Signagelive. Please refer to the instructions and download links provided here

The minimum supported firmware version supported by Signagelive is 7.1.65 (or 8.0.102 for LS4 and HD4 models, with 8.5.36 being the recommended version), please ensure your device is using that firmware version.

For 5 Series devices, it is recommended to use at least the 9.0.59 firmware, however the currently supported and recommended firmware when running Signagelive across all series 5 Players is 9.0.120.

Please Note

If your player is currently added to BSN.cloud provisioning and network menus it will need to be removed and factory reset, otherwise there will be a conflict with B-Deploy.

Auto-install using the BrightSign Serial Number

Before we begin, ensure that a blank SD card formatted to FAT32 is inserted into each BrightSign device you wish to configure. You can then follow the steps below:

  • Head to Network > Manage or Settings > Licences menu

  • Click the blue + button located in the top left then select Player

  • Click the BrightSign (Automated with B-Deploy) icon

  • Enter the Serial Number(s) for the Device(s) you would like to register.*

  • Set the time zone.

  • Configure the Wifi/Wired, DHCP and Proxy settings*

  • Set Video, Audio, and Screen Rotation options

  • Enter the Player Address details

  • Enter the Signagelive Licence code/s, or Select Existing

Following the above, power on your BrightSign devices and ensure that an internet connection is present. Once they successfully connect, they will begin downloading and installing Signagelive. A green tick will appear on-screen once this process has been completed.

Please Note

These settings should be configured for the site where the device(s) will be installed. Otherwise, they will not connect and download Signagelive.

Auto-install using the CSV template

This section will detail how to configure B-Deploy for one or more BrightSign Players using this CSV template:

  • Head to Network > Manage or Settings > Licences menu

  • Click the blue + button located in the top left then select Player

  • Click the BrightSign (Automated with B-Deploy) icon

  • Select “Upload a .CSV of Player Details

    • At this stage, if you have not filled out the CSV template, press the "Download a .CSV Template" button within the Add Player module in Signagelive, alternatively, you can the template here

  • Select your completed CSV Template

Please Note

We recommend the use of Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel to open and edit your “bDeployCSVUploadTemplate.csv” file. Other applications are available, however, these are the most commonly used for such a process.

Once your template has been uploaded, press Next and you'll be given the opportunity to confirm all of the details are correct on the pages that follow. Once complete, power on your BrightSign devices and ensure that an internet connection is present. Once they successfully connect, they will begin downloading and installing Signagelive. A green tick will appear on-screen once this process has been completed.

Please Note

Ensure that any licences you plan on adding to the CSV template have already been uploaded to your Signagelive Network, the CSV template only associates the licence with the allocated Player/BrightSign Serial Number - it does not upload the licence to your Network.

Filling out the CSV template

Once you have the CSV template open, complete the following fields (minimum):

  • Hardware ID (BrightSign Serial number) of the device

  • Licence Code (ensure this is a Licence that is available and already uploaded to your Signagelive Network) note: when filling in your Licence Code, do not include the character "-"

  • Name of the Player - this is the chosen name for the Player in Signagelive

Whilst we recommend completing as many of the fields of this CSV as possible, you can fill in the rest of the details about your Player from the Site and Contact Details tab of your Players once they have been added to your Signagelive Network.

It's worth noting the following values when completing the CSV also:

  • For the networkType column: 0 is for WiFi, 1 is for Wired

  • For the screenRotation column: 0 is for landscape, 90 is for Portrait, 270 is for Portrait(270)

  • For any YES/NO options - use 1 for YES, or 0 for NO

  • Any fields that have more than the allowed length of characters, these will be automatically shortened upon uploading to Signagelive

Once you have completed the CSV, ensure that it is re-exported as a CSV prior to uploading to Signagelive. When you are ready to upload, follow the steps in the previous section.

Please Note

Ensure that the network settings for your devices are configured in accordance with the site they are being installed at, incorrect network information can result in the devices not connecting and then failing to download Signagelive.
