How to Manage Playlists, Display Notices, and Configure Interrupt Content in Signagelive
When managing content in Signagelive, it's essential to know how to utilize zones and playlists effectively. This ensures that you can show a main playlist, display notices, and leverage interrupt content without overlapping or disruption.
Zone Setup and Management
A layout should be treated as a template to contain your own custom content via playlists or direct assignment of media.
To show a main playlist (e.g., company media) and also display an independent ticker zone (text-based company updates) for example, follow these steps:
Create a Layout with Multiple Zones (Content > Layouts > Add new layout using the blue button in the top left of the UI): Open your Signagelive account and select the option to create a new layout.
Add multiple zones to your layout, such as one for your main playlist and another for supporting content - rotas, team notices etc.
Assign Content to Each of your Zones (Content > Publish > Layout):
Assign the main playlist to a primary, schedulable zone.
Add any notices (e.g., special messages or promotions) to a content zone. Media specific zones, such as tickers, are independent of the main playlist and scroll or update independently of your main playlist content
By using this method, you keep your playlists organized and prevent the need to include notices directly in the main playlist.
Interrupt Content Configuration
You may also need to show temporary or time-sensitive content (known as Interrupts) which will play for a short fixed amount of time as the result of a user event on site or via a remote controller. Here’s how to configure this:
Set Up a Separate Playlist for your Interrupt Content or assign a single media asset to your interrupt key/serial receiver:
Configure what content should appear when a user interacts with your player
Assign it with either Play to length (default of 10 seconds for single static assets) or a defined duration of your choosing (recommended)
Publish the Interrupt Playlist:
Choose your players and the content you wish to deploy
Follow this guide for more in depth steps on the publishing process for playlists, as the result of a trigger. To interrupt with a Layout, see this guide
Interrupt content plays for the specified duration, and when it concludes, your players will resume the main playlist without requiring manual intervention. This makes your signage more adaptive to user input and opens your content playback up to multiple other use cases.
