Configuring your Sony device from the Remote Device Manager

Sony's Remote Device Manager (RDM) allows you to remotely control and install Signagelive on your Sony BRAVIA devices from the comfort of your own web browser. It offers features like "Zero-Touch Provisioning" for initial device setup and "Control & Monitoring" for ongoing management.

This article will walk you through the steps of installing Signagelive on your Sony BRAVIA device via the RDM.

Requirements Before You Begin

  • The Signagelive.apk file downloaded - available here

  • A supported Sony BRAVIA device in its out-of-the-box state (if re-using an existing device, please factory reset using the steps in this article)

  • Connection to either a wired or wireless network

Initial Setup (Accessing the RDM and creating a Device Profile)

  1. Head to https://apps.rdm.sony.net/ and login with your Sony account (or create a new one)

  2. Once logged in, create a Tenant for Signagelive by clicking Add Tenant and then entering a name of your choosing

  3. Navigate to the Device Profiles menu and click Add Profile

    1. In the Profile Name field, enter a name of your choosing

    2. From the Model Series drop-down menu, select the model of Sony device you are configuring

    3. In the RMS Service Provider ID field, enter 91b47bef-fa19-414d-b7d3-b79711164256

  4. Next, head to the Apps tab and click Register App

    1. Press Select File and choose the Signagelive.apk you downloaded earlier in this article

    2. Tick Run After Provisioning

    3. Tick Automatically Grant Permissions

    4. Select Add

  5. Next, head to the Basic Settings tab and scroll down to the IP Control section (under Network and Internet)

    1. From the Authentication drop-down, select Pre-Shared Key

    2. In the Pre-Shared Key field, enter 5151

  6. Press Save to complete the completion of your Device Profile

Registering your Devices

Next, head to the + Device Registration menu, you should see two options:

  • Individual Registration: Click Registration by Yourself

    • In the Device Name field, enter a name of your choosing for your Sony device

    • In the MAC Address (Ether)* field, enter the MAC Address of your device (this will be physically listed on the back of the device itself)

    • Upon entering the above, the Model* field should automatically populate

    • Under the Profile drop-down, select the Profile you created as per the steps earlier in this article

    • Finally, click Register

  • Bulk Registration: This option allows you to register multiple Sony devices at once via the supplied CSV template. To do so, download the template, fill in all device information (MAC address, device name, device profile name, tags), upload the CSV, and click Register.

    • Ensure that if you bulk register multiple players that your Device Profile is also selected.

Provisioning

The steps in this next section will vary slightly depending on whether you plan on using a wired LAN or Wi-Fi connection. See below for more details.

The below steps are based on your device being configured from an out-of-the-box state, if your Sony device has already been configured please proceed to factory reset as per these steps and then resume following this article.

Preparing your Sony Device (on-site, wired LAN)

  1. Start by powering up your Sony BRAVIA device

  2. Connect a wired LAN

  3. Wait for a QR code and supporting activation code to appear on-screen.

Do not press any other buttons on your remote until the QR code has appeared, as doing so can interrupt the QR code from appearing on-screen.

Preparing your Sony Device (on-site, Wi-Fi)

  1. Start by powering up your Sony BRAVIA device

  2. Select English on the Welcome screen

  3. Select Skip on the Quick set up screen

  4. Proceed to Wi-Fi settings and connect to your Wi-Fi network

  5. After successful Wi-Fi connection, reboot your player using the remote control Do not control the device otherwise, as this may cause the provisioning to fail.

  6. Wait for a QR code and supporting activation code to appear on-screen

Start Provisioning

  1. In the RDM, select the Provisioning tab.

  2. Choose Authentication by yourself if you are performing the provisioning, or Authentication by other member to create a shared URL for someone else to provision

  3. Scan the QR code displayed on the BRAVIA using your camera, or manually enter the 6-digit authentication code shown on the BRAVIA screen. Provisioning will start automatically.

After successfully completing the steps above, Signagelive will launch on your Sony BRAVIA device. You can then proceed to activate your player in Signagelive.
