As of Signagelive client version 1.30 for Sony BRAVIA devices, we introduced the ability for these devices to be utilized in Sync Groups for synchronizing fullscreen media across multiple Sony media players. This article will walk you through how this is configured.

Adding your Players to a Sync Group

Firstly, you'll need to add all of the Players you wish to sync to a Sync Group - see this article for tips on doing so.

What Sony devices can be synced?

Sony BRAVIA devices that appear on our Supported Models sheet can be synced, and must be running the Signagelive client version 1.30.

What asset types can be synced?

On Sony Players, there is no specific limitation around the types of content that can be synced. They will, of course, need to be a supported media type.

Web Pages/Widgets may not sync efficiently due to variance in loading resources.

Is there a limit to how many Sony devices can be synced?

There is no enforced limit to how many devices you can have in a Sync Group, though you must ensure that the firmware versions are the same on each Sony device you are syncing.

Other considerations

We're continuously improving our Sony client, therefore please bear the following in mind when syncing multiple Sony devices:

  • All Players must use a wired network connection and be connected to the same LAN

  • The master of all synced Sony devices is determined within our cloud and is allocated based on the media player with the lowest Serial Number in the Sync Group

  • If the master is unavailable or offline in the Sync Group, all remaining devices will not be in sync. The master device needs to be available for sync to function correctly.

  • In order for Sony devices to sync, they require connected to an NTP time server. Please ensure this is enabled on all devices prior to attempting to sync.

  • Sony devices sync asset by asset as opposed to frame-by-frame

  • Longer videos may slip out of sync from time to time depending on hardware differences, to mitigate this please ensure device models are as identical as possible and all firmware is the same on each device
