If you wish to change between landscape or portrait modes, you can do this by following the steps below:
Connect a USB keyboard to your BrightSign player
Press CTRL+S to access the Settings menu
Navigate to Screen Rotation using the "Tab" key
Select the desired rotation - the portrait option will either be 90 or 270 degree rotation depending on how the connected display has been setup
Press "Enter" key to confirm your rotation selection
Your BrightSign Player will reboot and launch into the Signagelive application.
Can I change the orientation of my BrightSign Player if I am not on-site nor have physical access to the device?
If you installed Signagelive on your device via BSN.cloud then yes you can. You'll simply need to access the Remote Diagnostic Web Server (RDWS) from BSN.cloud (see this article for steps to do so).
Once you are in the RDWS (and provided your device is switched on), you can access your device's SD card and create a new configuration file (as per step 2 of this article) that contains your desired rotation settings. Once you have this file, replace the old settings.json (located in the Data folder on the SD card) with your newly generated file and then force a reboot of the Player via the CONTROL tab within the RDWS.
Please Note
If you are replacing the settings.json on your BrightSign device's SD card remotely with a new version that you may have created, please ensure that your new version of the file is also called "settings.json" before adding this to the data folder of your SD card.
If you did not configure your BrightSign device via BSN.cloud, you will need VPN / remote access to the local network in which your device is configured. You'll then be able to access the Local Diagnostic Web Server (DWS) using the IP address of your BrightSign device. For more information, see this article. Once you have access to the DWS, follow the steps as per above to replace the settings.json file with a new version that has the desired rotation settings.
