Using the Native Portrait feature available to select Samsung devices removes the need to rotate videos and allows you to use the native on-screen Samsung Menu to set your device into Portrait. Upon doing so, the Signagelive application will adhere to this same setting.

Please Note

Samsung C and D series devices do not support Native Portrait functionality.

Configuring Native Portrait on your Samsung Tizen Players

To Configure Native Portrait on your Samsung Tizen device:

  • Press the red A button on your remote

  • Select the Rotation field, then change this to either 90 or 270

  • Ensure the Rotate Videos tick box is selected

  • Press Save

Upon completing the steps above the Signagelive application will launch, and all of your landscape content will automatically rotate to appear in portrait orientation.

Please Note

With Samsung Tizen Players, you can also use the Portrait version of the Signagelive for Samsung application. To do so, change the URL in your URL Launcher to http://clients.signagelive.com/samsungsoc/latest/v4/portrait

Configuring Native Portrait on your Samsung E-Range Players

To Configure Native Portrait on an older Samsung E-Range device, please follow the steps below to install the Portrait version of the Signagelive for Samsung application:

  • Press the Home button on your Samsung remote control

  • Select Change URL located in the to right-hand side of your screen

  • Enter the URL to http://go.smartlfd.com/v2/portrait then press Done

  • When back on the Home screen, select the URL Launcher

Upon completing the steps above, the portrait version of the Samsung Signagelive application will launch and display in portrait orientation.

If you previously had Signagelive installed on your E-Range prior to installing the Portrait version of our application, you'll be met with a "This Player Has Been Previously Activated" error message. When this happens, please de-activate your Player in Signagelive and then re-activate against the activation code that appears.

Now you have the portrait version of the Signagelive for Samsung application installed; you'll want to change the native rotation settings within the Samsung on-screen menu. To do this:

  • Click the Source button on your Samsung remote control and select any of the inputs (HDMI1 or PC for example)

  • Now press the Menu button and select the OnScreen Display followed by Display Orientation.

  • Set the OnScreen Menu Orientation and Source Content Orientation to Portrait

  • Once finished, you'll notice the Samsung menu immediately switch to Portrait, at this point press the Home button and select the URL Launcher to return to the Signagelive application

Upon completing the steps above, you'll have successfully configured your Samsung E-Series device to Native Portrait.
