With Signagelive for LG webOS, you can check and update your firmware version at any time. This guide will provide you with the relevant steps to check which firmware version you are running and how you can go about updating this.
Requirements before you begin:
LG remote control
A blank USB flash drive (formatted to FAT32 or NTFS)
Connected USB Keyboard (optional)
Connection to either a wired or wireless network.
Please Note
Automatic firmware updates are not supported for LG displays and will need to be applied manually using a USB flash drive or remotely via the Signagelive Support Team.
How do I check my firmware version?
It is possible to check the signage firmware of your LG webOS panel from the information application by carrying out the following steps:
Press Home on the remote control
Select the Information application
Once in the Information application, you will see the following information listed:
Software Version: SoC Firmware Version
Micom Version: Micom Firmware Version
Model (worth taking note of ahead of the steps to follow)
You can now reference both of these versions alongside your Player's model number to then understand what firmware version you have installed on your LG webOS panel.
How do I perform a Firmware Update?
Please start by finding the model of LG webOS Player that you are running on this spreadsheet and download the latest firmware update file listed. Next, proceed to follow these steps:
Once you have downloaded your relevant firmware, please copy or move the downloaded firmware image file (.epk) to its relevant path on your USB flash drive:
If your current SoC firmware version is earlier than v02.00.00: create a folder called LG_DTV on the root folder of your USB drive and store the image file within.
If your current SoC firmware version is v02.00.00 or later: create a folder called LG_MONITOR on the root folder of your USB drive and store the image file within.
Please insert the USB drive with your downloaded firmware version into your LG webOS signage player and the software update application will launch automatically.
If the software update application doesn't launch automatically then follow these instructions to launch the update utility manually: on the Settings TV menu (Advanced menu on panels older than WebOS 3.0) > go to General > Press the 7 button on your remote seven times
Once the Update window appears, click the Update button. Once the update has been completed the LG webOS player will automatically reboot.
If the current SoC firmware version is v02.00.37 or earlier then please repeat steps 2 and 3 after rebooting.
If you have a display that is v02.00.37 or older, please do not update both the SoC firmware and Micom firmware at the same time. Instead, run through the update process twice. Once for the Micom and once for the firmware. Your screens Micom will update on the second attempt.

The firmware versions listed in our documentation are the latest versions we have tested and approved at this time and are not necessarily the latest available from the manufacturer.
Can I disable Remote Firmware Updates?
As part of the new LG webOS client (version 1.6 Build 240) released on the 3rd May 2016), we have added the ability for users to disable remote firmware updates within the Signagelive application. You can read more on enabling or disabling this, below.
The benefit of this being added is that it puts you in control of whether you would like to automatically download any new firmware from Signagelive as and when we have tested newer firmware for your panels and we're happy this will cause no problems for you.
Please Note
You will require version 1.6 Build 240 or higher of the LG webOS platform to be able to have this feature. All client updates are done automatically as and when they are released by Signagelive, so newer clients will always be available to you automatically unless they are being blocked by your network for any reason.
How do I enable or disable remote firmware updates?
To be able to disable remote firmware updates on your LG webOS panel, you will need to:
Power on your LG panel and allow the LG application to load.
Press the blue button on your LG remote and the Signagelive Settings screen will appear.
There are several options on this screen, the one you will need to use is the Remote Firmware Updates tick box.
If the option is set as ticked then Remote Firmware Updates will be enabled, if unticked then it will be disabled for you. Please set this on your panel as per your preference.
To save your changes, please now click the Save button and you will return to the application playing your content.
