How to rotate a Samsung display

There are two ways to rotate content on your Samsung display: using the Signagelive App (best for quick changes) or the Samsung Hardware Menu (best for Tizen global settings).

Requirements

  • A Samsung Remote Control

Method 1: Using the Signagelive Settings (Recommended)

This method changes how the Signagelive app renders your content.

  1. Point your remote at the screen and press the Red button to open the settings.

  2. Select Screen Rotation.

  3. Use the Up/Down arrows to select your desired angle (No Rotation, 90, 180, or 270).

    • Tip: The correct setting depends on how you have physically mounted the screen.

  4. Press Select/Enter to confirm.

  5. Scroll down and select Save.

Important for Older Models (Samsung C, D, and E Series), On these pre-Tizen devices, this method only rotates images. Video files will not rotate:

  • The Fix: You must rotate the video file itself using video editing software before uploading it to Signagelive.

Note for Samsung Tizen Models

Tizen users will see an additional checkbox labeled "Rotate Videos". Ensure this is checked if you want your video content to match the screen orientation.

Method 2: Using the Samsung Hardware Menu (Tizen Only)

If you are using a Tizen display, you can set the orientation at the hardware level. This applies to all inputs (HDMI, PC, etc.), not just Signagelive.

  1. Exit Signagelive by switching the display source to a different input (e.g., HDMI or PC Input).

  2. Press the Menu button on your remote.

  3. Select OnScreen Display.

  4. Select Display Orientation.

  5. Choose either Landscape or Portrait.

  6. Restart the Signagelive application.

Advanced: Troubleshooting Rotation for "Sync" Players

If you are using Signagelive Sync (e.g., for video walls) on Tizen hardware, the player defaults to a 270-degree rotation.

The Issue: If you have physically mounted your screen at a 90-degree angle, your synchronized content may appear upside down or sideways.

The Solution: You have two options to correct this:

  1. Physical: Physically rotate your panel mount to the 180-degree position.

  2. Content: Encode your video content with a pre-applied rotation to compensate for the 90-degree difference before uploading it to Signagelive.
