Here is the expanded guide, covering the specific processes for all three playlist types while maintaining that friendly and clear tone.
1. Deleting a Master Playlist
Master Playlists are the main, reusable playlists stored in your central library. If it is no longer needed for any future schedule, you can remove it entirely by doing the following:
Go to the Playlist Manager (or your main asset library)
Locate the Master playlist you wish to remove
Click on the three dots (menu icon) next to the file name
Select Move to Trash (or Delete)
2. Delete a Local Playlist
Local Playlists are tied to specific players, and can have multiple versions if you choose the Unique Playlist per Player option when creating them. To clear these from your network:
Go to Content > Playlists > Manage
Search for the Local Playlist name
If you see the same playlist appear multiple times with a '- [serial number]':
You will want to delete each item with this structure
Select the option to Remove or Delete
If you only see one playlist listed, then you should:
Click the 3 dots
Select Remove
Ideally, you should now go into Content > Playlists > Create/Edit and move the Control Asset for this playlist to your Trash folder too. This will remove it from any playlists on your network.
Please Note: When you delete any asset from your network, it will trigger that asset to be removed from all playlists it is currently added to. Resaving any control asset will generate new instances of playlists to be created.
3. Deleting a Nested Playlist from the network (Nested Master)
A Nested playlist is simply a Master playlist that you have applied to another master playlist via a control asset. Usually, you don't want to delete the original file, you should do the following to remove your nested playlist from any other playlist:
Find the Control Asset in your Master playlist.
Click on it
Click the Trash can to remove it from the playlist
If you want to delete the Control Asset from your network, do the following:
Content > Playlist > Create/Edit
Search for the nested playlist in the media asset column
Click on the asset named after your playlist
Choose the Trash icon to remove the nested asset from your network
Recovering accidentally Deleted Playlists
If you were a little too quick with the delete button on a Master or Local playlist, you can usually get it back.
Navigate to the Trash folder in your Signagelive account
Look for the deleted playlist file / control asset
Select it and click Restore
