This guide will walk you through the process of moving a Signagelive player from one network to another. The process is simple and involves three main stages: deactivating the player on its old network, getting a new activation code, and activating it on the new one.
Key Things to Know Before You Start
To ensure a smooth move, please review these key points.
Administrator Access Required: You must be an Administrator on both the old network and the new network to which you are moving the player.
Content Does Not Move: Moving a player is like setting it up for the first time. All playlists, schedules, and proof-of-play data will remain on the old network. You will need to publish new content to the player once it's on the new network.
Expect Brief Downtime: The player will stop displaying content while it is being moved and reactivated.
Check Your Licence Status: If the licence you're moving has never been used, or if it is unregistered on your current network, then please contact the Signagelive Support team, and we can assist you in reassigning it
Step 1: Deactivate the Player from the Old Network
First, you need to release the licence so it can be used on the new network.
Log in to the Signagelive network where the player currently is.
Navigate to Network > Manage.
Find and select the player you want to move.
Go to the Licence tab for that player.
Click the Deactivate button and confirm your choice.
The licence is now free and ready to be used on your new network.
Step 2: Get a New Activation Code from the Player
The player now needs to display a new, unique code for activation.
For most modern players (e.g., BrightSign, LG, Samsung, ChromeOS):
Simply reboot the player. After it restarts, a new 6-digit activation code will automatically be displayed on the screen.
For older Windows PC players:
If you are using our older PC client, please follow the steps in the expandable section below. Otherwise, you can proceed to Step 3 without concern.
Click here for instructions on older LegacyPC players:
Ensure the Signagelive application is fully closed on the PC. (You can check in Windows Task Manager that
signcontroller.exe
is not running).Go to Start > Programs > Signagelive.
Click on Remove Signagelive Licence Information.
In the tool that opens, click the Clear Licence Information button.
Close the tool and restart the Signagelive application. A new activation code will appear on the screen. </details>
Step 3: Activate the Player on the New Network
With the new code visible on your screen, you can add the player to its new home.
Log in to the Signagelive network you want to move the player to.
Navigate to Settings > Licences.
You will see the licence you just deactivated listed as available. Click on it.
Click the Activate button.
Enter the 6-digit code currently displayed on your player's screen.
Click Save.
The player will now connect to the new network and download its settings.
Add Content to Your Player
Your player is now active on the new network, but it won't display anything until you instruct it to play.
Your final and most crucial step is to publish content (playlists, schedules, etc.) to the player from the new network. Once you publish, the player will download the content and begin playback.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: I deactivated the licence, but I don't see it on my new network.
A: Licences are tied to your overall company account, not a specific network. As long as both networks are under the same company, the licence will appear in the Settings > Licences section of any network once deactivated. If you still can't find it, please contact support.
Q: I rebooted my player, but it's not showing a new activation code.
A: Ensure the player has a stable internet connection. Try rebooting it one more time. If it still doesn't show a code, it may not be connecting to our servers correctly. Check your local network settings.
Q: I entered the wrong code. What do I do?
A: No problem. Simply go back to Settings > Licences, click on the same licence again, and click Activate. You can then re-enter the correct code.
