Using Data Integrations, Signagelive offers a direct API integration with Tableau, enabling you to seamlessly display your Tableau Dashboards and Views on your Signagelive Players through our Data Integrations application. This powerful connection lets you directly bring your critical business insights to your digital signage screens.

How does the Tableau Integration work?

Displaying your Tableau content on Signagelive Players is a straightforward process:

  1. Create a Connection: In the Signagelive Data Integrations application, you'll establish a secure connection by logging into your Tableau account.

  2. Configure Sync Jobs: Set up synchronisation tasks to automatically retrieve screenshots of your desired workbooks, worksheets, and dashboards from Tableau. This ensures your signage always displays the latest data.

  3. Utilise the Tableau App: To retrieve these configured screenshots, use the dedicated Tableau App, available in the Signagelive Marketplace.

  4. Publish to Players: Finally, publish the Tableau app to your Signagelive Players via a Playlist or a Layout, just like any other content.

How is Tableau Data secured?

Security is paramount in all of Signagelive's Data Integrations, and your Tableau data is protected through several robust measures:

  • Administrator Control: Tableau administrators have complete control over the integration. They can disable this connection directly from the Tableau settings page where the "Connect App" was created.

  • Secure Credential Storage: Credentials and keys are securely stored in the cloud, encrypted at rest. They are never transmitted to the players, ensuring they stay secure and can be easily rotated.

  • No Direct Data Transmission to Players: A key security benefit is that no raw data is sent from the Data Integrations application to the Signagelive Player. Only screenshots of your Tableau dashboards are transmitted, significantly reducing the risk of data interception.

  • Protection of Password-Protected Dashboards: Even dashboards protected by a password can be broadcast on your screens without exposing login credentials or making your sensitive data publicly accessible via a public URL.

These comprehensive security measures ensure you can share your valuable Tableau data quickly and safely on your digital signage network.

Saving Filters and User Interactions: In this current release, the saving of filters and user interactions within Tableau dashboards is not supported.
