Asset Recurrence enables you to establish specific patterns for your media content to play repeatedly within a Playlist. Rather than adding the same asset multiple times, you can set it once and instruct it to repeat on particular days, times, or in defined cycles. This is ideal for automating regular content and maintaining organised schedules!

Ways that Asset Recurrence can benefit you:

Based on the understanding of asset recurrence in Signagelive (setting start and end days and times for content within a playlist), here are some examples of how it can be used effectively:

Weekly Marketing Campaigns:

  • Scenario: A retail store's new "Weekend Deals" video needs to play every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

  • Recurrence: Add the video once, and set it to recur weekly on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Regular Cleaning/Maintenance Schedules:

  • Scenario: A gym needs to display a "Gym Closed for Cleaning" message every Sunday evening.

  • Recurrence: Set the message to recur weekly on Sunday, during the specified evening hours.

Here is an overview video detailing how to add recurrence your assets:

How can I set a recurrence for one Playlist Media Asset?

To set a recurrence pattern for a single asset in your Playlist:

  1. Log in to your Signagelive Network.

  2. From the top navigation menu, select Content > Playlists > Create/Edit

  3. Open Your Playlist: Click on the name of the Playlist containing the asset you want to edit. This will open the Playlist editor.

  4. Select the Asset: In the Playlist timeline (the central area), click on the specific media asset to which you want to add recurrence. This will open its properties panel.

  5. Go to the Recurrence Section: Look for a section titled "Recurrence" in the properties panel.

  6. Configure Recurrence Options: You can now select whether your asset will "Play only on the following days" (eg, Weekdays, Weekends or Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

    • Set Start Time: Once you've selected your days, you can now choose your Start time by clicking on the option and then selecting your Hours, Minutes, and Seconds.

    • Set End Time: Once you've selected your days, you can now choose your End time by clicking on the option and then selecting your Hours, Minutes, and Seconds.

  7. Save Changes: Click the "OK" button (usually at the top or bottom of the Playlist editor) to apply the recurrence settings to your media asset.

You will be able to see your applied Asset Recurrence if you hover over your asset or ensure that you are on the Detailed view of the Playlist Timeline.

How can I set a recurrence for multiple Playlist Media Assets?

You can also set validity for several assets simultaneously, saving you time!

  1. Log in to your Signagelive Network.

  2. From the top navigation menu, select Content > Playlists > Create/Edit

  3. Open Your Playlist: Click on the Playlist's name containing the asset you want to edit. This will open the Playlist editor.

  4. Select Multiple Assets:

    • Please press and hold the CTRL Key (Windows) or CMD Key (Mac) while clicking on each asset in the Playlist timeline for which you'd like to apply validity.

    • Alternatively, you can click and drag your mouse to select a series of consecutive assets.

You can see your applied Asset Recurrence if you hover over your asset or ensure that you are on the Detailed view of the Playlist Timeline.

Important Note: When setting the validity for multiple assets, they will all share the same start and end dates. If you require different validities for each, you will need to set them individually.
