Want to display live HDMI In input from a connected device (like a TV box, camera, or PC) on your Signagelive Players? Then you can do this using the Capture Card Control Asset within your Playlists; the following article will show you how to complete this particular setup and the things you need to consider:

Important Notes Before You Start:

  • Player Compatibility: This scenario will only work with players that support HDMI input and Signagelive. For devices that offer this feature, please refer to this link.

  • External Device: To ensure functionality, please confirm that your external HDMI source device is connected and powered on.

Please Note:

The Capture Card Control asset is not supported on Tizen/SSP player types when configured into a Portrait Orientation

How to Put the 'Capture Card' Control Asset on your Playlist

To add the Capture Card Control Asset, you'll need to go to the Playlist Creator and follow these steps below:

  1. Log in to your Signagelive Network.

  2. From the top navigation menu, select Content > Playlists > Create / Edit

  3. Create a New Playlist or Edit an Existing One:

    • To create a new playlist: Click the blue "Add" button in the top right, then select "Playlist," provide a name, and click "Create."

    • To edit an existing playlist, click on the name of the playlist you wish to modify.

Once you are in the Playlist Creator, please do the following:

  1. Find "Control Assets": In the left-hand content library sidebar, scroll down or look for a section named "Control Assets".

  2. In the Control Assets folder, kindly find the 'Capture Card' asset.

  3. Next, simply drag and drop the 'Capture Card' Control Asset directly onto your Playlist timeline, and then position there where you would this asset to play.

  4. Now you can click on the 'Capture Card' asset in the timeline to set how long you want the HDMI In content displayed by setting the duration of the asset.

  • Add Other Content (Optional): You can intersperse your HDMI In content with other media assets (images, videos) in the same Playlist.

  • Publish Your Playlist: After arranging your content, click the "Publish" button (usually in the top right corner of the Playlist Creator) and follow the prompts to publish this Playlist to your compatible Player(s).

When this Playlist plays on a compatible Player, the 'Capture Card' asset will tell your Player to switch to and display the live HDMI input during its designated duration in the schedule.
