Requirements before you begin:

  • An LG remote control

Before configuring Native Portrait on LG

  • Native Portrait is only supported on LG Players running webOS 3.0 and above only.

  • If you are using pre-rotated videos, you should not enable native portrait unless you intend to switch to videos that are not pre-rotated. Should you require it, we recommend reading our Understanding Native Portrait article for further information on the differences between native portrait and using pre-rotated videos.

Configuring Native Portrait from the LG Screen:

For webOS models 3.2 and later:

  • Press Settings on your remote control > Display > Rotation

  • After applying the rotation change, if Signagelive is already installed and running then turn the panel off and back on to restart Signagelive. If Signagelive is not yet installed then continue to install Signagelive.

For webOS 3.0:

  • Press and hold the Settings button on your remote control until a speech bubble appears

  • Press 8, 0, 8, 0 to access the Server Settings menu

  • Configure the Rotation setting

Configuring Native Portrait remotely

If you do not have local access to your screen and would like to enable Native Portrait remotely, then please talk to our Support Team via Live Chat, who can action this for you.

Please ensure that you know the player(s) that you would like rotated and the rotation value that you would like them set to.

Rotation Reporting

When the player sends its latest system report to Signagelive it will report back the current rotation configuration, which you can view in the System tab of the player details.

LG players will report two different rotation settings:

  1. Signagelive Setup Rotation - the value of the setting configured in the Signagelive Setup menu (accessed by pressing the blue button on your remote control).

  2. Native Portrait Rotation - the current value of the native portrait setting, which can either be configured remotely via the Support Tools or locally in the OSD menu.

The Signagelive Setup Rotation setting will rotate all elements but not videos. For any customers that use pre-rotated videos they should continue to use this with Native Portrait Rotation set to off.

If Native Portrait Rotation is set to 90 or 270 then the Signagelive Setup Rotation will always be 0. This ensures that all content is rotated correctly when native portrait is enabled. Note 180 is not supported and should not be used in Support Tools. This is a limitation with webOS Players.
