For the guide to setting Conditions up, see below:

What is a condition?

In Signagelive, a 'condition' pairs an Include/Exclude flag and an asset Tag. It allows you to show a different combination of assets within a single playlist when deployed to multiple players.

Why do I need conditions?

Using Conditions on Playlist Media Assets within your Playlist can simplify scheduling and publishing your content. You can publish one playlist to be shown to all your players; however, the content within can be set to show on one, some, or all of those players using conditions.

Please Note:

For asset tags to work, you must ensure the tags on your assets, match those given to your media players. You can find more on player tags in this article.

How do I apply Conditions to my Playlist media assets?

You can add conditions to any of the assets within your playlist. To add a condition to an individual asset, follow these simple steps:

  1. Create a new or open an existing playlist

  2. Add asset/s to the playlist area

  3. Double-click an asset to access its properties, or click on the three dots to the right of the asset to open the same menu.

  4. Select the Conditions Tab

  5. Select the following Conditions to make the asset play on:

    1. All Players - no conditions will be applied (default option)

    2. Players Matching all tags below - Asset will only play on Players that have all the matching tags applied

    3. Players Matching any tag below - Asset will play on any Player with at least one matching tag applied

    4. Players not matching all tags below - Asset will not play on Players that have all the matching tags applied

    5. Players not matching any tag below - Asset will not play on Players with at least one matching tag applied

  6. Enter at least one tag into the text area to match the above selection (As you enter the Tags, you will be presented with a diminishing list of Tags already in use)

  7. Select OK

Can I apply a second layer of conditional behaviour to my Playlist media asset?

Yes, this is known as Advanced Tagging in Signagelive.

You can apply this feature by ticking the 'Advanced Tagging' box under the Condition tab of any asset.

To add an advanced condition to an individual asset, follow these simple steps:

  1. Enable Advanced Tagging

  2. Enter your tags into the Exclude players matching the following tags box, or select them from the dropdown

  3. Your asset will now play based on the first and second conditional settings you have applied to these fields (Play on players matching ALL or ANY Tags below + Exclude from players using these specific tags)

When might I use Advanced Tagging for?

Example 1: Players in the UK that also have a Cafe

  • The asset will play on:

    • Players matching all tags below:

      • Tags: "UK_Store"

  • Advanced Tagging ENABLED

  • Exclude players matching the following tags:

    • Tags: 'No_Cafe'

The above example will play on all players tagged with "UK_Store" except those who also use the tag 'No_Cafe'.

Example 2: If running content for the North / South of England, and wish to exclude a specific city from the deal

  • The asset will play on:

    • Players matching any tag below

      • Tags: Region1, Region2

  • Advanced Tagging ENABLED

  • Exclude players matching the following tags:

    • Tags: City1

The above example will play on all players tagged "Region1" OR "Region2" except those tagged "City1."

How do I apply Conditions to multiple Playlist media assets?

You can also set the conditions for multiple Playlist Media Assets at once by following these steps when using the playlist creator in its vertical view:

  1. Drag multiple items into a playlist from your asset library

  2. Tick checkboxes for all the items you wish to set conditions for

  3. Select the Properties box above the playlist

  6. Enter at least one tag into the text area to match the above selection.

Select OK

Please Note:

Advanced Tagging is not supported when applying conditions to multiple players (Select multiple assets using the tickboxes next to each asset > Click Properties > Conditions). You can apply additional tagging rules on a single-asset basis by double-clicking any of your playlists assets after you have applied your multi-asset conditions
