What is a condition?

A condition can be added to each asset determining which player or players it will either play on or not play on. Each condition set will match a tag given to the player within its player settings.

Why do I need conditions?

Using Conditions on the Playlist Media Assets within your Playlist can simplify how you Schedule and Publish your content. You can Publish one Playlist to be shown on all your Players, however, the content within can be set to show on one, some or all those Players by using Conditions.

Please Note:

For Conditions to work, you will need to ensure that they match the Tags given to your Media Players, for more information on this, see this corresponding article.

How do I apply Conditions to my Playlist media assets?

You can add conditions to any of the assets within your playlist. To add a condition to an individual asset, follow these simple steps:

  1. Create a new or open an existing playlist

  2. Add asset/s to the playlist area

  3. Double click to access an asset's properties or click on the three dots to the right of the asset to open the same menu.

  4. Select the Conditions Tab

  5. Select the following Conditions to make the asset play on:

  • All Players - no conditions will be applied (default option)

  • Players Matching all tags below - Asset will only play on Players that have all the matching tags applied

  • Players Matching any tag below - Asset will play on any Player with at least one matching tag applied

  • Players not matching all tags below - Asset will not play on Players that have all the matching tags applied

  • Players not matching any tag below - Asset will not play on Players with at least one matching tag applied

Enter at least one tag into the text area to match the selection made above. (As you enter the Tags, you will be presented with a diminishing list of Tags already in use)

Select OK

How do I apply Advanced Conditions to my Playlist media assets?

You can add advanced conditions to any Playlist Media Asset within your Playlist when supported conditions are selected in the The Asset will play on: field. By using the Advanced Conditions feature, you can add more specific conditions for when your media assets will play, excluding a subset of players. This can help you create more targeted and effective playback experiences for your audience. To add an advanced condition to an individual asset, follow these simple steps:

  1. Within The Asset will play on: field, select any of the following Conditions which support advanced conditions to make the asset play on:

    • Play On Players Matching All Tags

    • Play On Players Matching Any Tags

  2. Choose your tags: Below the The Asset will play on: dropdown you'll add any tags of players that you want the media asset to play on if it matches those tags.

  3. Enable Advanced Tagging: To access this feature, look for the Advanced Tagging checkbox when selecting any of the conditions above. Once you check this box, a second Exclude players matching the following tags dropdown will appear which will allow you to select tags which check for the reverse of the first rule.

  4. Choose your tags: Below the Exclude players matching the following tags dropdown you’ll add any tags you want to ensure the player does not have.

Example 1:

  • The asset will play on: Players matching all tags below

  • Tags: National

  • Advanced Tagging ENABLED

  • Exclude players matching the following tags:

  • Tags: Region1, Region2

The above example will play on all "National" tagged players except those tagged "Region1" and "Region2" as well.

Example 2:

  • The asset will play on: Players matching any tag below

  • Tags: Region1, Region2

  • Advanced Tagging ENABLED

  • Exclude players matching the following tags:

  • Tags: City1

The above example will play on all players tagged "Region1" OR "Region2" except those tagged "City1" as well.

How do I apply Conditions to multiple Playlist media assets?

You can also set the conditions for multiple Playlist Media Assets at once by following these steps when using the playlist creator in its vertical view:

  1. Drag multiple items into a playlist from your asset library

  2. Tick checkboxes for all the items you wish to set conditions for

  3. Select the Properties box above the playlist

Select OK

Please Note:

Note advanced conditions are not available when applying conditions to multiple Playlist Media Assets, but you can always apply them to individual items afterwards if a supported condition has been applied: Players Matching all tags below or Players Matching any tag below.
