TL:DR: We are announcing the End of Life for our support of Amazon Fire OS, and this article will further detail this matter and provide a clear summary of key dates and information that you will need to know.
After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue support for the Amazon Fire OS client, effective 1st January 2025. This decision has not been made lightly and is based on various factors; including changes in market demand, technological advancements, and our commitment to delivering the most innovative and relevant solutions to our customers.
What happens next?
As with our important updates that incur notable change, removing support for Amazon Fire OS will be a 12-month process, and therefore our timeline is as follows:
1st April 2024: We will stop adding new Amazon Fire TV models to the supported range
1st July 2024: We will stop new installations of Amazon Fire TV Players (this means Amazon devices that have never had Signagelive installed on them will no longer be permitted to install and run Signagelive)
1st October 2024: We will stop providing updates, patches, or new features for this product
1st Jan 2025: We will no longer provide technical assistance, bug fixes, or security updates for Amazon Fire TV-based Players.
Which devices will no longer be supported?
We are ceasing support for all Amazon Fire OS-based Players, this includes Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick and any other models listed here.
What happens to my existing Amazon Fire TV Player?
Signagelive will continue to run on your existing Amazon Fire TV Player as it has to date, and any issues or bugs will be addressed until 1st January 2025 (as per our timeline above).
What happens after 1st January 2025?
From 2025, any existing Signagelive instances on Fire TV Players will remain functional but will no longer receive routine application updates, nor will we provide technical assistance for these Player types.
In the event you wish to purchase alternative digital signage hardware for use with Signagelive, you will need to consider an alternative solution from the array of Supported Media Players available on our website.
