Publishing content to your Signagelive players is a straightforward process that puts you in control of what displays on your screens and when. This article will guide you through the three key stages of publishing content within the Signagelive user interface.
To begin publishing any form of content, please start by navigating to Content > Publish within your Signagelive network at any time.
Here's a quick overview video of the publishing process:
When the Publishing page loads, you will be met with three key options:
Step 1: When do you want this content to play?
This initial step determines the timing and context of your content, and you will be met with three core options every time:
Option | Purpose | Best for: |
When nothing else is scheduled" (Default Content) | To provide a fallback, always-on content stream for your players. This content will display whenever no other specific dated schedules are running or active. |
|
"Between the Chosen Date and times" (Scheduled Content) | To publish content (playlists or layouts) that plays only during specific date ranges, days of the week, and times of day. This is for planned, time-sensitive campaigns. |
|
"As the result of a trigger" (Interrupt Content) | To display content (playlists or layouts) instantly when a specific external event or "trigger" occurs. This is typically a temporary interruption to the regular schedule. |
|
For this article, we select - When nothing else is scheduled" (Default Content).
Step 2: What do you want to publish?
Once you've defined the "when," it's time to choose "what."
Click on the Step 2 tab to access the publishing options.
Choose Playlist: Based on your selection in Step 1 ("When nothing else is scheduled"), "Playlist" will be the only available option here. This indicates that you'll be publishing a full-screen playlist as your catch-all content.
Select your desired playlist: A list of your created playlists will appear. Choose the playlist you want to serve as your player's fallback content.
Review your selection: After selecting a playlist, you'll see a preview of it on the left side of the screen. Take a moment to ensure this is indeed the content you want your player to fall back on if all other layouts or playlists cease playing.
Proceed to Step 3: If you're satisfied with your choice, click on the Step 3 tab.
Step 3: Which Players do you want to publish to?
Finally, you'll specify where your content will be displayed.
Choose Select Players: A new window will open, showing a list of all the players registered to your Signagelive network.
Select your target players: Tick the checkboxes next to the players you want to send this catch-all message to. You can choose single or multiple players.
Review & Publish: After selecting your players, click the Review & Publish button. This will display a summary of your choices: when the content will play, what the content is, and which players it will go to.
Confirm Publication: Carefully check the summary. If everything looks correct, click the green Publish to Players button at the bottom right of your screen to send the changes to your selected players with these settings.
What Happens Next?
Our server queuing system is now processing your content and should be downloaded to your players' local storage shortly. The time this takes will depend on:
Content Check interval: This setting is applied to your player, which dictates how frequently it checks for new content.
Content processing: The time it takes for our back-end server to process and prepare your content for distribution.
Once downloaded, your chosen playlist will automatically display on your selected players whenever no other scheduled content is active.
