What is a pre-staged player?

Some customers have an internal workflow where they configure players and content first, before the hardware is configured onsite by a 3rd party company. This new feature enhances the Add Player/CSV upload functionality so that when a specific activation code is used, players are added to your Signagelive network and immediately deactivated. This allows users to pre-create players to allow for player configuration and content scheduling before hardware is configured onsite and a real activation code is available.

How are pre-staged players beneficial?

Pre-staging saves time and money: all content can be scheduled in advance and will be ready to be downloaded right after activating the player onsite. No waiting, no hassle.

How do I add a pre-staged player?

The Add Player to Network modal allows multiple players to be created via the CSV upload feature which now allows the players to be created without an actual activation code that has been displayed on the hardware. Instead, a dummy activation code will be used to tell Signagelive that the player is being activated without hardware. This dummy activation code is @00000

After the player has been created and added to your Signagelive network, the licence will be deactivated so the player is ready to activate on the desired hardware.

Things To Note

  • The CSV file must not contain a hardware id.

  • You can mix dummy and real activation codes in the same CSV file, players added with a real code will be activated as usual; players added with the dummy code will be deactivated.

  • Pre-staged players don’t require any specific licence type, this feature will work in conjunction with any existing unregistered or deactivated licence in your network.
