Using Screenfeed content within your Signagelive network

Follow

As of March 2014, one of the great new features of Signagelive is that you can now connect to your ScreenFeed account via the user interface and automatically transfer your news, weather, entertainment and sports feeds in to your network.

To address the need for high quality, dynamically updated digital signage content, Signagelive has worked in partnership with Screenfeed to make their extensive portfolio of content feeds available to Signagelive users directly from within the Signagelive platform. Screenfeed provides over 75 different media feeds in both image and video formats; ranging from national news and sports, to localised traffic and weather updates.

Here's a list of the items covered in this guide:

Something you should know -

If you are using localised content feeds from Screenfeed then you will need to set your Postal Code within the Signagelive Player Site Tab for this type of content to work when this has been published. Please take a look here for more information about the Site Tab - http://signagelive.zendesk.com/entries/20044607-The-Site-Tab

At this current time, localised content only works in the US or Canada

How would I publish Screenfeed content to my Players?

Publishing Screenfeed content to your Players is very simple to do and can be done either by scheduling the content in to a:

  • Fullscreen playlist - Publishing your Screenfeed content within a fullscreen playlist is very easy to achieve.
  • Layouts (Multizone) - If you wish to publish the Screenfeed content within a Layout then this will need to be scheduled in to a Schedulable Zone.

If you are publishing Layouts to your players then remember as the Screenfeed content is essentially Media RSS then this would be published in to Schedulable Zones within a normal playlist. The Screenfeed content would not be published in to RSS Ticker Zones.

Please ensure these URLs are allowed on your firewall to ensure all the content from Screenfeed servers can be downloaded correctly:

  • screenfeed.com
  • kitchen.screenfeed.com
  • content.screenfeed.com
  • direct.screenfeed.com
  • image.screenfeed.com
  • image2.screenfeed.com
  • carryout.screenfeed.com
  • dinein.screenfeed.com

Other questions:

Can a Screenfeed account be associated to multiple Signagelive networks?
Yes - If you are a Signagelive user that has access to multiple networks then you can connect to your Screenfeed account to as many of those as you desire. It is not a one Screenfeed account per one Signagelive network type relationship.

Can I trash Screenfeed content on my network?
Yes - Screenfeed content within your Signagelive network is just like any other media asset. You can move this around your folders, add conditional playback or trash the asset if you wish. There are no differences to Screenfeed content to any other asset you will have uploaded to your network library.

Something you should know -

Please be aware that trashing the Screenfeed content within Signagelive will not delete or change your feed configuration or subscription within your Screenfeed account. The subscription to Screenfeed will remain unaffected.
