The signagelive Message Manager feature within your network enables quick and simple updates to your digital menu boards. Within your network you can create custom templates and assign administrators who can login and change the text shown within the feed. When any changes have been made, the text will be updated on to all registered players that have the menu board content deployed to them.
To use the Message Manager you need to carry out the following steps:
Before you can get underway using the Message Manager, you must have already created at least one custom RSS feed on your network. If you have not done this, please go through the previous section on creating custom RSS feeds and then you can move to the next stage.
Now that you have confirmed you have at least one custom RSS feed available, you will now need to assign individual user access rights to each individual feed. For each feed you create on your network and wish to use the Message Manager feature, you must assign the user(s) each time.
To setup user access, you will need to firstly go into the custom RSS feed area on your network. You can do this by clicking on the Content menu and then select Assets from the drop-down menu.
After selecting the Assets menu, you can now hover your mouse over the Add Asset menu and then select the Custom RSS Feed option.
When you have selected the Custom RSS Feed option you will now be in the Feed Browser of your network. It is within the Feed Browser that you will be able to see a list of all custom feeds added to your network and you can open and edit these at any stage. If you are about to setup the Message Manager feature, you should have at least one feed present in your list.
You will now need to click on the name of the RSS Feed you wish to use with the Message Manager. In our example the feed is named My First Custom RSS Feed.
Now that you have clicked on the name of your Custom RSS Feed you will be taken into the Edit Feed section and will now be able to begin setting up Message Manager users to be associated with this particular content.
Within the Edit Feed window, you will now need to click on the blue Message Manager Users button.
When you have clicked on the button you will now be taken in to the Message Manager Users section and will be shown a list of all users on your network. To give any of the users shown Message Manager access to your feed you will need to click on the tick box underneath the Enabled column.
When you click on the tick-box to enable a user to have access the row will turn green and you will receive confirmation that this user has been setup correctly.
Now you have enabled user access to the Message Manager you, or the user provided access to, will receive an automated email from firstname.lastname@example.org. Within this email will be confirmation of your access to the Message Manager and it will provide steps on what to do next, you will also now be able to login to the Message Manager area at http://content.signagelive.com.
When you have received your email, please now go to http://content.signagelive.com and you will now be ready to start using the signagelive Message Manager tool for the feed you have given user access to.
You will now be on the Message Manager login page and will need to enter your signagelive user account email and password to be able to successfully login. When you have entered your details you will need to click on the Login button.
When you are logged in to the Message Manager, you will be able to see all of the feeds that you have access to. When you want to make any changes to a feed all you need to do is click on the relevant box.
When you open your custom feed, you will be able to click in any of the lines of text present and edit the messages shown. When you are happy with your changes you can click the green Save button and your changes will be updated to your players with this content deployed.
